It is with strong conflicted emotions that the Fergusson’s announce that they have sold their farm. It was always Kathy's dream to have an Equestrian Centre, but the continuing changes in her MS symptoms is the mitigating reason for the Fergusson's making the decision to change from the 43 stall boarding operation to an easier to manage personal property. RK Arabians will continue to breed quality foals and to be part of the Arabian horse community.
The Fergusson’s want to thank their staff, Bonnie and Troy for their years of loyalty and jobs well done and stepping up to the plate to take on more work loads as Kathy's health presented more challenges for her. Thank you Donna, (who recently joined the staff) our "best ever paddock cleaner".
To all our clients; past and present for being such an integral part of RK Arabians and allowing us to care for your horses. I will miss the daily contact with your horses, I have become very attached to a lot of them. We wish you continued successes in the show ring and in what ever you endeavor to do. We will still see most you as we hope to continue to be clients of Brenda's, as we can't imagine anyone else training our horses.
To Brenda and Doug,
We can't thank you enough for all your help and support over the years.
Brenda, I have seen the love you have for the horses and it will always be about the horses and what is best for their well being. All the long 12 hour days and your never ending drive and dedication to get the job done and done right. It was amazing to watch you take the horses from gawky yearlings to successful show horses. I also admire your ability to know what the horse is going to do before it does! I have the greatest respect for what you do and how well you do it. Thanks again, we couldn't have done it without you.
RK Venture Essence had a beautiful grey filly (RK Alexus) by KM Bugatti on April 14, 2009, she is a maternal sister to RK Sweet E Motion our 2008 Bay filly by Baywatch V. All three of Essence's foals have been fillies, lets hope she will do it a fourth time. Essence is being bred to Couturier for a 2010 foal. |

RK Arabians was blessed with the birth of another grandson, Landon, in August. The proud parents are Brad and Christine. Landon joins his older cousins Shawn and Tyler on the farm.
2007 saw another stellar show season for our clients and Brenda. They garnished multitudes of Championships (including 3 National), Reserve Championships, Top 10's, Top 5's, etc., starting in Scottsdale in February thru Class A's and Regionals, Canadian Nationals, and finishing off at US Nationals in October. They are a fun, talented and dedicated group of people who will undoubtedly surpass their 2007 accomplishments in 2008!

SMALL BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL VISITS
2005 was the first time that RK Arabians hosted the Small Beginnings Preschool visit. It is where the Fergusson's Grandsons attend. We had 75 children ages 3 to 5 and their parents. It was a great success all around and they asked if they could come back again in 2006. Small Beginnings Preschool teaches about the farm animals in the month of March. April 6 & 7, 2006 saw approximately 120 preschool children, siblings and parents came to the farm for the tour. The group is split into two and one group goes with the Fergusson's daughter, Melissa Jansen to learn about what type of grain and hay we feed our horses and how to do a stall. They visit Solarus and give him dandelions his favourite and pat his nose. This year they got to see a baby horse, RK Essencially Shy foaled Feb 4, 2006 she put on a good show for them running, playing and drinking from Mom, RK Venture Essence.

The second group went with Jenna Plenhert to learn about brushing the coatand cleaning the feet. Khwuazar, owned by Jennifer Drain was the Arabian Ambassador for the day and enjoyed all the brushing and fussing. Jenna then showed them a bit about lunging a horse, the different gaits and explained the different colours of the horses in our barns. There were lots of questions from children and parents alike, I am sure there are future Arabian owners in the crowd. After the tour, the highlight is Mrs. Debbie Passey's horse cookies, shaped like horse heads complete with halters, manes and forelocks. Mrs. Passey and her family are just one example of the wonderful thoughtful clients that RK Arabians is blessed to have in their barns.
Even though the Fergusson's Grandson will be moving onto Kindergarden and Grade 1 the visits by Small Beginnings Preschool will be an annual event. It is RK Arabians pleasure to introduce the wonderful world of Arabian horses to the children of their community.
